The word Kabbalah literally means receiving.  The Kabbalah or Tree of Life is ancient wisdom on how the universe works and what the meaning of life is.  Each circle represents an archetype, with ten archetypes total which are:

The Kabbalah says that the human soul has three elements:

Nefesh: The lower part or animalistic part of the soul.  It is part of the soul at birth and is linked to instincts and cravings.

Ruach: The middle soul or the spirit.  It contains virtues and distinguishing between good and evil.

Neshamah: The higher soul or super-soul.  It allows one to have awareness of the existence and presence of God.

The Kabbalah or Tree to Life also fits into the Flower of life symbol.
